Rocket Lawyer Overview
Rocket Lawyer is a little different from other LLC formation services or registered agent services, as it is primarily a legal services website, offering a variety of legal help to its many customers (including LLC formation). Services are available to both small businesses and individuals, and one of the services they offer is LLC formation. Founded in 2008, it has quickly grown into a big player in the legal services space, having helped more than 20 million businesses.
In addition to LLC formation, the company also offer help create custom legal documents and contracts, will review a variety of documents and contracts, and offers phone legal advice session with lawyers to name a few additional services.
If you need only one service, you are able to purchase each service for a one-time fee, however, if you are going to be making use of multiple services, then the most cost-effective way to go is to subscribe to the monthly membership plan.
Quick Rocket Lawyer’s Score = 7/10
When reviewing Rocket Lawyer we took into account these 4 main points:
- How’s their customer support? = 8/10
- How’s their pricing and overall value? = 6/10
- Their credibility and ease of use = 7/10
- Rocket Lawyer’s service speed = 8/10
As you can see — based on these criteria points, Rocket Lawyer scored roughly 7 out of 10. We will cover these points in more detail below.
Mainly, you should choose Rocket Lawyer if you plan to use some additional legal services apart from just LLC filings. Some of those would be legal consultations with a lawyer, downloading some legal form templates, and filing some other unrelated legal documents.
The company has had some pretty good reviews and feedbacks recently as they seemingly tried to improve themselves on this front and clear the not-so-terrific past.
However, their pricing is quite expensive if you just need an LLC incorporation service and we believe there are some better alternatives for that.

Rocket Lawyer’s Pricing Structure
Rocket Lawyer is a little different to those companies out there that offer LLC formation as their main service. Although Rocket Lawyer does form LLCs, it also offers an extensive array of other legal services. The company charges $99.99 to form an LLC, and while this is not a huge amount of money in the legal world when you compare it to other LLC formation services, it is on the more expensive side. As a non-member, once you pay the $99.99 fee for the LLC formation service, you will receive:

Thorough Review of Rocket Lawyer & It’s Features
Their Customer Support | 8/10
Overall, the customer support provided by Rocket Lawyer is good. There are several ways you can get in contact, including via phone, by sending them an email, or using the live chat service. Although they are not open for customer support on the weekends, they have long, weekday availability, as you can get in contact with them from 9am to 9pm.
The phone tends to be answered very quickly, and you will immediately be in touch with a knowledgeable customer representative who will be able to get your questions answered. If email is your preferred method of communication, you are likely to get a response within 24 hours. The live chat option is not as good as some other live chat services out there, as they will first try offering you related, pre-written Q+As relating to the keywords that you input into the live chatbox.
Pricing and Overall Value | 6/10
It would be fair to say that compared to some other alternatives — Rocket Lawyer is quite expensive. Their basic package starts from $99.
So if you’re just looking to create an LLC — Northwest or Zenbusiness is definitely a better choice.
Although, Rocket Lawyer has its benefits when it comes to other legal services that they provide. Plus, you can get a monthly subscription and get some of their services pretty much anytime on demand. They also include some legal document templates and so on.
Their Credibility and Ease of Use | 7/10
As we mentioned, Rocket Lawyer has been founded in 2008 – in one of the toughest economical times. Maybe that’s why they decided to “innovate” and offer the market some legal services for average folk and small businesses. A relatively low-cost, subscription-based model played out well.
Mainly they have quite a lot of positive customer feedback and testimonials. Although, there were some bad times when they decided to offer free trials and probably put a “too tiny” small print that needed to explain that the customer will be charged after the trial automatically.
Now there don’t seem to be any significant problems. The Rocket Lawyers website itself loads quite fast and is easy to use.
The ordering process is quite simple, but a little bit lengthy as you need to go through each and every of their “add-ons” in order to place the order. Some customers might confuse this with annoying upselling. That’s why we gave it 7 points out of 10.
Speed of Rocket Lawyer’s Service | 8/10
Like most LLC formation services, the turnaround time varies depending on the state where you are setting up your LLC. If you do want to find out the turnaround time, you have to go through a bit of a process that involves going through the order form until you reach the page where you expedite your order.
Some companies offer the turnaround time before having to fill out any forms, so this is quite an extended process, especially if you choose not to go with the company if you are not happy with how long it will take.
Is Rocket Lawyer Right For You?
There are a few things you need to look at before deciding if Rocket Lawyer is right for you. Are you only looking for an LLC formation service? Or do you want the full package?
If the only thing you are after is an LLC formation service, then Rocket Lawyer may not be your best option (see our recommended alternatives). There are others out there that do the same thing at a much more affordable price tag, some of which even offer a free registered agent service as well. However, if it is the legal services you want as well and hiring a lawyer is too pricy, then Rocket Lawyer is a good alternative.

“I would recommend Rocket Lawyers as a guide to get started. I have not experienced their legal practice but will in the future. They offer a range of services that make you feel supported in starting your business. I am inclined to work with Ricket Lawyers in the future.”
Final Opinion
Having helped thousands of customers for many years, it is hard to find fault with Rocket Lawyer, and most of their clients will agree. The biggest factor here is if you would prefer to get the stand-alone LC formation package, or their comprehensive legal service plan. It is clear that they would much rather people go with the plan, which is paid monthly, as this is a much more appealing price tag. If you’re going just for the LLC formation package, although you will be getting a great service overall, there are cheaper options out there.
Top Rocket Lawyer Alternatives
If you feel as though Rocket Lawyer is not the company for you, there are plenty of other options out there that offer similar services. Let’s have a look at two of the best alternatives out there, and what they can offer.
Alternative #1 – ZenBusiness
Zenbusiness is one of the best LLC formation services in the industry, and one of the most popular. This is largely thanks to its low price point. Zenbusiness is a huge $60.99 cheaper than Rocket Lawyer when looking at just their LLC formation, as you can get your business formed for just $39 if going with the basic package.
In addition to just forming your LLC, Zenbusiness will also throw in a free operating agreement, 12 months of free registered agent services, and various other free add ons, which is more than you get if you decide to go with Rocket Lawyer. Like Rocket Lawyer, the company makes the whole process very quick and efficient.
One of the biggest downsides of Zenbusiness is their experience in the field. They are relatively new to the game, having only formed in 2015, compared to 2008 when Rocket Lawyer was formed.

Alternative #2 – Northwest Registered Agent
Northwest Registered Agent is another big player in the game. The company opened its doors in 1998, so has been around even longer, and certainly knows what they are doing when it comes to LLC formation services. One of the biggest selling points about this company is its customer service. The premium, in-house support is made up of professionally trained corporate guides, so you’ll always get your question answered.
If you opt to form an LLC with them, they will also include a full year of registered agent services included in the package, which is often a big plus for those that are starting a new business.
The downside is they are on the slightly higher side when it comes to price. If you are on a budget, there are plenty of cheaper options out there. Their LLC filing cost is a set rate of $225, plus state fees, meaning there are some LLC formation services that are a good $185 less. However, like with all things in the world, you get what you pay for, and Northwest Registered Agent is one of the best in the industry, which the reviews online clearly show.
